Lesson 6: Sukūn, Qalqalah & Hams/Sakta (for ك and ت)

Learn to read letters carrying a Sukūn (Jazm), representing the absence of a vowel. Master the echoing Qalqalah sound for (ق , ط , ب , ج , د) and the soft breath flow (Hams) for (ك and ت).

Rules for this lesson
Qalqalah Echo:When the five letters of Qutub-i-Jad (ق, ط, ب, ج, د) carry a Sukūn, they must rebound/echo.
Hams / Sakta (Soft Breath):When Kāf (ك) and Tā (ت) carry a Sukūn, pronounce them with a soft, controlled release of breath.
⚠️
Hams vs. Qalqalah: ك and ت

Sākin letters like كْ and تْ require **Hams (releasing breath softly)**. Keep your tongue still after closing the articulation point; **never** allow them to echo or bounce like Qalqalah!

🗣️
Tajweed: No Echo on Non-Qalqalah

Sound rebound (Qalqalah) is strictly restricted to the 5 letters of **Qutub-i-Jad (ق, ط, ب, ج, د)**. Standard Sākin letters like لْ, مْ, نْ, سْ, رْ must remain completely still!

Pedagogy: Hamzah Jerk & Sound-Alikes

A Sākin Hamzah (أْ / ءْ) must be read with a clear, sudden stop (jerk) in the voice. Also, distinguish similar-sounding pairs like تْ/طْ and كْ/قْ.
