Lesson 1: The Arabic Alphabet (الحروف الهجائية)
Learn the 29 individual letters of the Arabic alphabet and master their basic pronunciation rules. Look out for the 7 'Full-Mouth Giants' that fill your mouth with a thick sound, and practice locking your lips for the 25 letters that must be pronounced with still lips!
Arabic letters originate from 5 main anatomical regions: the **Throat (Halq)**, the **Tongue (Lisān)**, the **Lips (Shafatayn)**, the **Mouth Empty Space (Jawf)**, and the **Nasal Cavity (Khayshūm)**.
The 7 Full-Mouth Giants (خ, ص, ض, ط, ظ, غ, ق) must always be pronounced with a thick, heavy voice. Keep all other alphabet letters light and thin!
An isolated empty Alif (ا) is silent. If it ever carries a vowel sign, it orthographically acts as a **Hamzah (أَ / إِ)** and is pronounced as a glottal stop.
